A security guard was shot in the hand after he tried to stop two men from breaking into an apartment on the West Side.

There was a call for a shooting Friday night on the 2600 block of Westward Drive. Police said two suspects were trying to break into an apartment when a security guard tried to stop them and hold them until police arrived.

One of the suspects shot at the security guard, grazing his hand.

Both suspects have not been caught, and police say one was wearing a red hoodie and the other was wearing a blue hoodie with a tattoo on his forehead.

Police are investigating.
