The magic of Christmas comes to Sun City

In the spirit of the season, Sun City offers its guests the chance to come together and rejoice the wonder of Christmas. From a towering Christmas tree and colourful lights lining the gardens and pathways, to an evening of harmonic carols and a lavish banquet; the experience of Christmas at Sun City is bound to be a memorable one.

The resort, which was recently voted Best Getaway in the Best of Ekurhuleni Awards and Best Weekend Getaway in the Best of Jo’burg Awards this year, will hail the start of the season with the Christmas Lights Ceremony on 14 December 2018. Guests are welcome to join the occasion outside the Welcome Centre where they will be treated to egg nog and mince pies while Clinton Viljoen performs festive songs. The ceremony will commence at 19h00. 

On Christmas Eve, 24 December 2018, an ensemble of entertainers will lead visitors through a selection of traditional and contemporary Christmas-inspired songs and carols, at the Sun Arena (Superbowl). Santa Clause has promised to make an appearance so bring the kids along. Entrance to the event is free for all but monetary donations are welcomed in support of local charities that are supported by Sun City. Doors will open at 19h00.

Guests can feast like royalty on Christmas day, as they will be treated to a sumptuous buffet featuring traditional Christmas dishes and desserts with a contemporary and decidedly South African twist.

“Our festive buffet is a marriage of Christmas classics and authentically South African, festive fare. Inspired by tradition, cognisant of our beautiful climate, and paying homage to local tastes and flavours; our Christmas lunch has a contemporary, yet reassuringly ‘Christmas-y’ feel. Expect a mouthwatering spread and a magical, festive atmosphere,” says Thapelo Modise, Marketing Manager at Sun City.

Christmas lunch will be served at 12h00 in the Kings Ballroom at Sun Central. There will be vibrant entertainment by the Divinity Band during the course of the afternoon and children can enjoy some fun and games in Santa’s Village.
